How belonging works
Nobody walks
in alone.
Every attendee is placed in a House at check-in. It is the simplest fix we know for the problem of arriving somewhere you do not know anyone.

You are placed, and that is the point.
You are placed, not asked
Your House is assigned at check-in. You do not pick it and you cannot trade it, which is the whole point: a room of strangers becomes four teams before the first session starts.
A colour, a metal, a standard
Every House carries a crest, a motto and a scripture. Your colour goes on your pass, and the standards are raised on the mainstage once the full company is in the room.
The generations get mixed
A House is not sorted by age, church or how long you have been coming. A teenager, a mother and an elder end up cheering for the same crest, which is a thing that does not otherwise happen.
It follows you home
Your House stays with you between conventions. Come back next year and you return to your own team rather than starting over as a stranger.

Faces around the throne
Three creatures and a King’s horse.
Three of the four Houses are drawn from the four living creatures John saw around the throne: a lion, an ox, a man and a flying eagle, the same vision Ezekiel saw first. The Lion, the Ox and the Eagle each carry one of those faces. The Horse is the exception, and on purpose. It is the King’s own white steed, ridden by the one called Faithful and True. Three surround the throne. The fourth belongs to the King who returns.

The King’s Cup
The King’s Cup is the friendly rivalry running underneath the whole convention. It is a team to cheer for rather than a job to run, and it is built so that showing up is what counts.
- Scored per person, so the smallest House can win.
- Points come from taking part: arriving, worshipping, welcoming someone who came alone.
- Standings run through the week and are frozen before the final night.
- The winning House is crowned at the closing, on a trophy that carries from year to year.
