Rev. | Pastor / Teacher

Charles Kimbrough

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Pastor Charles Kimbrough accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into his heart at the age of 14. He faithfully attended Glory Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Leroy Taylor until December 1979, when he left Philadelphia to serve in the United States Air Force.

While stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, Charles accepted his call into ministry and was licensed in June 1982. During these formative years, the Lord allowed him to grow under the mentorship of several pastors, teaching the Gospel and serving faithfully in various music ministries.

After returning from Osan Air Base in Korea in 1988, he joined St. Stephen’s Baptist Church, where he taught Bible Study and continued his service in the music ministry. In 1991, Charles began working for the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, where he served for five and a half years.

In 1996, he became a member of New Creation Christian Fellowship, continuing his ministry in music. That same year, he met Karliss Kimbrough, the woman God ordained to walk beside him in life and ministry. They were married on December 6, 1997. Together, they taught in the New Creation Sunday School, and Karliss pioneered New Creation’s Children’s Church, where Charles also served as a teacher.

In 2004, Charles began assisting his wife in prison ministry, and from this work Grace House of Refuge Outreach Ministries was birthed. In 2007, God expanded their assignment, giving them the vision to establish Grace House of Refuge Church.

Pastor Charles Kimbrough now serves as Pastor and Teacher of Grace House of Refuge Church, under the apostolic covering of his wife, Apostle Dr. Karliss Kimbrough. He is a gifted musician (bass guitar), teacher, intercessor, mentor, and currently serves as an Engagement Center Director with the Bexar County Community Supervision and Corrections Department.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in occupational education from Wayland Baptist University. He and his wife have walked together in life and ministry for 30 years, faithfully serving God, His people, and their community.
